Ned Bayley was born in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1918. His parents were members of a fundamentalist Christian Church whose adherents believe that only they would be saved and go to Heaven when Jesus came to Earth for the second time. When Ned went away from home to enroll in college, he realized that there were a large number of people who were laden lives as constructive and helpful to society as the members of his parent's Church. This stimulated him to enroll in a study of religion along with his studies in agriculture. Throughout his entire professional life of the researcher, teacher, administrator and policy director in agricultural sciences, His personal studies continued on the relationship between religion and the findings of science and the facts of recorded history.

These studies intensified following his retirement.

As they had in the past, his more recent readings and personal experiences convinced him that traditional churches were continuing to ignore the findings of science and recorded facts of history in determining their beliefs and doctrines.

The challenge of this book is for individuals and churches to re-examine their beliefs and realigning them in accordance with what is known today of the findings of science and the fax of history. The author points out that, if this challenge were met, many of the differences among religions would disappear and many of the violent clashes between religions that still occur could be avoided. Most important, the lies of individuals would be greatly improved as well as their efforts to obtain a moral unobstructed existence for themselves and for society.
